Boozefighters Bike Blessing

And

Poker Run 2007

With the weather looking like we hit the jackpot, we were all feeling like it was going to be bigger and better than expected. Let me tell you, it was probably the best one yet. Set up was fairly easy as the venders began to show up. We all got the kitchen rolling for my special recipe Spaghetti and all the fixins’ The Dew Drop, our new club house, proved to be a worthy setting for this type of event. Not only did we have a newly constructed bar within, the outside amenities, with the huge lawn area and the bandstand was the highlight of most of the compliments coming from the participants and venders. We were about to have the time of our lives.

The bikes started to roll in about 9:00 for sign in with a slow pace that turned into a mad rush that didn’t stop until almost noon. The run was fairly short which brought a lot of bikes back for the start of the festivities. Before you knew it we were running out of parking up front. Luckily we had access to the rear of the building for overflow parking. Drinks were flowing and the Brotherhood was beaming from this place. The Holcomb Brother band was smokin’ hot as usual, bangin’out everyones favorite tunes. We had two tables full of raffle prizes that everybody was getting tics for. Everybody was working their ironbutts off to make this one a success. The line for the food was out the door. I thought for a second, man I hope we have enough for everyone. As it turned out, there was just enough for Slingshot and I to have a plate full. We got the very last scoop of sauce. It was time for the raffle, so I took my place behind the microphone and announced the start off. Everybody gathered around to try their luck at some of the cool stuff that was donated by venders, local proprietors, and club members. Even though I didn’t win a whole lot I had a great time joking about with winners and the croud. Big Daddy had his eye on that Lincoln Logs toy set, but some other lucky winner ran off with the prize, leaving him with nothing to do on those rain days (ha). After the raffle was over, most everyone retired to the bar for some last minute drinks and friendship. To my surprise attendance continued well on to around 5:00 or so. After all the clean-up was done and the grounds picked up, A much needed relaxer was taken by all the hard working members of the Boozefighters chapter 6, and their Boozettes. Congratulations to all for a job well done. With the hopes that each event will get better and bigger, we look forward to the next time. Until then Boozefighters Up!!!
